Students of over 900 government schools will soon get a uniform dress code in Delhi. Instead of different colours for their dresses the city government is working to introduce same kind of uniform irrespective of types of schools. Moreover, the new uniform has been designed by country’s best fashion design institution, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).
“We are going to introduce new dress code for all schools this year, Delhi’s Education Minister Arvinder Singh told fachcha.com. “At present, it is discretion of a school’s principal that what should be pupil’s dress. After this introduction the uniform dress code will be applicable to all students of all government school whether it is Rajkiya Pratibha Vidyalaya, or Savodaya Vidyalaya of normal government schools. Everybody will have same kind of uniform”, the minister said.
National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has already designed it. It will be check shirt and blue pant for boys and check shirt and blue skirt for girls. There will also option of check kurta and blue salwar for girls.
The government is in contact with other government agencies for this purpose so that they could provide dress for one or two years. Once it come into fashion people will be able to buy it individually as it will be easily available, said a senior government official.
Though the point of time has not been decided for the implementation of new uniform but Education department is planning to introduce it after the examination season is over. “It will be introduced by this year. We are working to introduce the new uniform during the new academic session”, the Education Minister said.
