Teachers strike in Delhi University
Teachers of Delhi University observed strike on today under its agitation programme against imposition of semester system in science courses in undergraduate courses. Classes in most of the colleges North and South Campus did not take places as students too joined the teachers in the agitation. The agitation will continue on Tuesday too.

Symposium on Semester system
Delhi University Teachers Association is organizing a day long symposium on the semester system on 25 August 2010 in Room No. 22, Arts Faculty. Teachers and scholars will present their view on the issue. The teachers body has also invited Delhi University’s Vice Chancellor Deepak Pental to participate in the debate.

Workshop on research skills at Jamia

A six-day workshop on ‘Research and publications in social sciences’ to promote and strengthen social sciences in India started Monday at the Jamia Millia Islamia.
Thirty-five faculty members from various disciplines including Economics, History, Political Science, Sociology and others from different universities and colleges of the country are participating in the workshop.
Inaugurating the workshop S.K. Thorat, chairman of UGC said that research and publication by professors is an important criterion for promotion. The workshop will help to enhance the skills required to prepare research papers for publication in journals and guidelines and norms related to publication.

IGNOU launches certificate course in Computer Hardware
IGNOU has launched a certificate course in PC Hardware and Networking. The programme will be delivered at Computer Division, IGNOU Main Campus as well as in Noida with the first batch commencing from Sep 15, he said. According to the university, all those who have passed their 10+2 or equivalent from government recognised institution are eligible for admission.

this is very important to stop this system because this is going to affect student academics in negatively . teachers are not are not aposing the semester but how the system is applying on the insitiution is wrong any of the positive effect teachers as wel as students are not seeing .our teachers are correct no one is suffering THERE IS ONLY ONE SUFFERER AND THAT IS STUDENT students are alearedy affected from starting of the session because of strike 50% of the classes are distrected because of this strike
