Polling started for 59 assembly constituencies in UP covering nine districts, mostly in eastern part of UP. Gen-X, mostly first time voters are participating enthusiastically in the polls, according to reports reaching capital. Over 1.94 crore voters will exercise their democratic rights to elect 59 representatives among 846 contesting candidates.

Election Commission has made massive arrangements for elections and set up 20426 polling stations in the poll-bound areas.
