National Framework for Vocational Education soon for schools

kapil-sibal1On the line of National Curriculum Framework the government is working to streamline vocational courses too. According to the Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal the HRD Ministry is in the process of developing a National Vocational Qualification Framework. He made the announcement during launch of CBSE’s vocational courses in New Delhi.

The HRD Minister said that vocational education is a means of empowerment of children through imparting skills. He also emphasized on the strengthening of vocational education is required in order to take advantage of the demographic dividend of the country, as a means to give a skill orientation to those passing of senior secondary school, and who are not able to go to college. Sibal stated that he would hold a dialogue with the universities to enable a seamless transition of these students trom the senior secondary level to the undergraduate level.

On Monday Sibal said that vocational studies need not necessarily be based on national curriculum but can be sourced from various regions of the country and be specific to regions. According to him both school and university education must strive to open up non-traditional areas of human endeavour for sustenance.
