Do you hate to wake up early in the morning and to dress up yourself to go to college for your classes? If so, scene is going to change soon, in some states. Like evening colleges of Delhi University government has approved a plan of afternoon colleges for engineering courses.

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has now allowed plans to go ahead for second shift of engineering colleges.
Though the approval will be given for the only those states where engineering colleges or availability seats for engineering courses are less than the national average. According to HRD Ministry sources this provision will benefit the students of north and eastern Indian states like Bihar, UP, Assam, Orissa etc. where number of engineering colleges are much below than the southern states like Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh or Maharashtra.

The idea behind the policy of afternoon engineering college is to remove the imbalance in the availability of seats for engineering courses among the states. However, the concerned engineering college will have to get prior approval from the AICTE in this concern. Before giving its consent the AICTE will ensure that proper infrastructure and manpower are available for the students or not.

Conventional branches, like Civil, Mechanical and Electrical will be compulsory in a new engineering college in those states where adequate number of engineering colleges is already available. Though, this will not apply in other states. This will help to reduce imbalance in growth of various streams.
