As the Kirori Mal College openly defied the DU VC order regarding the implementation of the semester system for science course and decided to go for annual system the teachers’ body of Delhi University (DUTA) has questioned the legal sanctity of the revised courses based on semester system and said that these B.Sc.(Hons.)/ B.Sc. (Programme) would not be a valid degree.
“Some Science Courses have not even been placed in the Academic Council…
The fact is that he has only amended, though unauthorisedly, certain clauses of Ord. II, Ord. VII, Ord. VIII and Ord. IX on admission, attendance and examinations. No amendments to the Ordinances on revision of syllabi of 13 UG Science Courses has been on record. Therefore, the degree of those students who study such science courses which are not provided in the Ordinances of the University shall not be a valid degree of B.Sc. (Hons) / B.Sc. (Programme)”, Delhi University Teachers Association said in a statement.
“Implementing these courses will jeopardize the career of students since these are not in accordance with law apart from the fact these are incomplete, ill-conceived and inferior to the existing legally valid annual courses”, the DU teachers’ body adds.
Meanwhile the university administration has said it stoodd by its order regarding the implementation of the semester system at the undergraduate level.
