DU: 1st cut-off on time but students to miss counseling

cut-offThough the first cut-off list has finalized by the university administration despite all hurdles but the tug of war between the university administration and teachers on the issue of introduction of semester system at the undergraduate level has reached to a level where there is no point of return. As a result, the student is going to be ultimate victim as he could not get proper counseling in colleges at the time of admission. Even the admission process under extra-curricular activities (ECA) has badly suffered in most of the colleges as a large number of teachers kept them aloof from the process.

After a long hype, created by both the parties including administration (read Vice-Chancellor) and teachers (read DUTA), the cut-off has prepared anyhow but the dissociation of teachers from the admission process and stubborn  attitude of the administration has worsen the situation in this regard. Principals of various colleges today had been busy in meetings and preparation of the cut-off list. Several colleges received data of the marks and concerned applicants in form of CD today, two-day late, from the university administration. “We have received CD today. We are looking into the details of the data so that we could prepare list”, Dr. Purbi Sakia, Principal of Bhagini Nivedita College told fachcha.com.

Principals of Hindu College, Ramjas College and several other colleges too had faced similar kind of situation as the day was hectic for them in absence of teachers. “We will certainly release the cut-off on 22nd but students will not be able to get counseling at the time of admission as teachers have distanced themselves from the process”, Rajesh Mohan, Principal, ARSD College told fachcha.com. The college is taking help of one or two teachers who come here and have some personal relationship.

Meanwhile, Aditya Narayan Mishra, President DUTA describes this as an unprecedented support from the teachers on the issue of semester. “This also shows that how Vice Chancellor has been isolated due to his own style of working in the university”, he says.

Court asks teachers to co-0perate in admission process

Meanwhile Delhi High Court has asked teachers to co-operate in the admission process as it is related to career of a large number of students. Court has also issued a notice to DUTA and asked to file a reply in this regard by 16th August. The university administration had filed a petition in this concern.
