Delhi gets 124 merit certificate winners in CBSE from govt. schools this year

There has been a marked improvement in pass percentage of students of Delhi government schools in CBSE class-XII results declared today whereas there has been a decrease in pass percentage of students from public schools in Delhi. It is also worthwhile to mention that overall pass percentage of Delhi Government schools has gone up by 1.44% which is much better than the overall pass percentage of 0.09% in respect of entire students appeared in senior secondary examination 2009.

It is also a matter of great satisfaction for Delhi government schools have also been imparting quality education to the special children. Anuj Goel from Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya, Shalimar Bagh has topped all over India with 96.4% among special children in Class-XII with Commerce Stream. Education Minister Arvinder Singh today stated that government schools of Delhi, in fact, has bridged the gap and established parity in performance with public schools.

He further stated that pass percentage of government schools has gone up from 85.70% to 87.14% whereas the percentage have decreased in case of aided schools from 78.61% to 75.68%(-2.93%) and in case of public schools from 87.81% to 87.17%(-0.64%). Last year there was difference (2.11%) between pass percentage of public schools (87.81%) and government schools 85.70%. It is credible that this year the pass percentage of government and public schools is same.

Delhi government schools have secured highest position amongst all CBSE regions in three successive years though the pass percentage of Chennai regions is highest among all other regions but incase of government schools it is 2% behind Delhi government schools.

The number of students appeared from government schools increased by around 15,000 whereas in case of aided schools around 1300 and in case of public schools around 2650 only. The increase in number of students in case of government schools is more than 20% than last year. This year 87,235 students appeared from Delhi government schools against 72,253 last year. Moreover that number of government school students from all the regions was 1.10 lakh and more than 87,000 students alone appeared only from Delhi government schools. Singh added that number of merit certificate winners in government schools has gone up from 98 in 2008 to 124 in 2009 which is also a big achievement.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Education Minister Arvinder Singh have conveyed their heartiest congratulations to students and their parents on their outstanding performance. They have also wished them a bright future.
