The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has today given approval to the proposal to initiate second phase of ambitious Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP).

The Rs. 2430 crore project, funded by World Bank, Government of India, various state governments and private institutions, was started to strengthen institutions with improved learning outcomes and employability of its graduates.  

The project will be implemented in pursuance of the National Policy on Education through MHRD.  An estimated 200 engineering institutions National Institute of Technology (NITs) will be competitively selected along with a small number of eligible private unaided institutions.
