The emerging super powers India and China have been associated with each other in such a way that China can not imagine its civilization without India. A research paper has been presented before the 97th Indian Science Congress which claims that China has no past civilization without India.
The paper presented by Parmesh Choudhary says that 90 percent of China’s tourist spots or archaeological sites relates to India. Traditionally there were no border between India and China. Referring A D Wooley and Toynbee it says a readymade culture (astronomy, medicine, painting, sculpture, language, literature, yoga…) influenced China and traditionally China acknowledges India as its teacher. Even the country shows the elements of Indian folklore.
The meet of India’s great scientists at 97th Indian Science Congress (ISC) 2010 has also discussed family related issues and domestic violence too in its sessions. The Mahakumbh of over 7000 scientists and hundreds of students were worried about joint family system and erosion of institution of marriage and nuclear family system.
‘Joint family system has outdated’ and ‘nuclear family is under stress’ said Avneesh Singh in his presidential remark of the Anthropological and Behaviourial Science section. He said that the fast scientific changes of 21st century has made life easier but at the same time it has created growing imbalance in psychological, social and cultural spheres of life.
The present lifestyle has created an unwanted and unexpected stresses and strains in the life of everyone, said Avneesh Singh, Director, Regional Labour Institute. Concerns were also raised on the media induced environment and globalization, which have made the younger generation more ambitious, individualistic and less obedient. Terming joint family system ‘practically irrelevant’, nuclear family ‘under stress’ and commitment of marriage is ‘weakening’, it was also said that value system had been eroding in the society. It is no more able to resist occurrence of extra-marital relationship.
Several other issues like domestic violence, dowry deaths and other related issues too have been discussed in the country’s biggest scientific meet.
Nano science and Nano technology will be the major issues before the 97th Indian National Science Congress (INSC) going to start from Sunday. Though the main these of the 5-day meet of INSC is “Science and Technology Challenges of 21st Century: National Perspective” but Nano science and technology has attracted the Science Congress the most as the two symposia have been concentrated on the topics related to Nano science.
While ‘Engineering Science and Tecnologies: Nano and Macromolecules’ is the theme of symposium of Engineering section on one hand, ‘Spectroscopic Techniques: from astrophysics to Nano-science’ is the theme of symposium for Physical sciences on other hand. There will be 14 symposia in the meet. About 3500 students and 4500 scientists will participate in the INSC.
These include former President and noted scientist A P J Abdul Kalam, eminent scientist M S Swaminathan, Anil Kakodar, C N R Rao, M G K Menon and several others.
