Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has asked to set target of four percent growth for agricultural sector in 12th Five Year Plan. In his address at the Golden Jubilee of Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) the Prime Minister today said that the growth of the agricultural sector had been 3.5% during the 11th five year plan. But there is need to increase the growth rate to four percent or more for betterment of agricultural sector, he said.
He also praised the agricultural scientists on the occasion and stressed on the need to revitalise infrastructure of support at the district level with Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK) process of revitalization and transformation of extension network.
