			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Punjab government Wednesday approved the merger of the Northern Indian Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT) based at Mohali, 10 km from here, with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi.<span id="more-2059"></span></p>
<p>NIIFT, run by the state government, and its centres in Ludhiana and Jalandhar will also merge with NIFT. </p>
<p>The decision was taken at a high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. </p>
<p>The state government also approved to provide Rs.48 crore over a period of three years to NIFT along with the immediate transfer of the existing infrastructure available with NIIFT. The infrastructure is valued at Rs.12 crore. </p>

There are 13 NIFT centres in the country. These include NIFT in Delhi, Banguluru, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Kangra, Kannur, Kolkata, Bhopal, Chennai, Mumbai, Patna, Raibareli, Shillong. Many centres like Kangra, Patna, Kannur and Shillong have started functioning in the last one or two years. The proposed new centre in Orissa will be established with the help of state government. The state government has offered free land and fund for necessary infrastructure for the establishment of the institute. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Students of over 900 government schools will soon get a uniform dress code in <a href="http://fachcha.com/category/delhi/">Delhi</a>. Instead of different colours for their dresses the city government is working to introduce same kind of uniform irrespective of types of schools. Moreover, the new uniform has been designed by country’s best fashion design institution, <a href="http://fachcha.com/tag/nift/">National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT)</a>.</p>
<p>“We are going to introduce new dress code for all schools this year, Delhi’s Education Minister <a href="http://fachcha.com/category/talk-of-the-week/">Arvinder Singh</a> told<strong> fachcha.com</strong>. “At present, it is discretion of a school’s principal that what should be pupil’s dress. After this introduction the uniform dress code will be applicable to all students of all government school whether it is Rajkiya Pratibha Vidyalaya, or Savodaya Vidyalaya of normal government schools. Everybody will have same kind of uniform”, the minister said.  </p>
<p><a href="http://fachcha.com/tag/nift/">National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT)</a> has already designed it. It will be check shirt and blue pant for boys and check shirt and blue skirt for girls. There will also option of check kurta and blue salwar for girls. </p>
<p>The government is in contact with other government agencies for this purpose so that they could provide dress for one or two years. Once it come into fashion people will be able to buy it individually as it will be easily available, said a senior government official.</p>
<p>Though the point of time has not been decided for the implementation of new uniform but Education department is planning to introduce it after the examination season is over. “It will be introduced by this year. We are working to introduce the new uniform during the new academic session”, the Education Minister said. </p>

<p>A leading College at Switzerland has offered semester exchange programme with National Institute of Fashion Technology. This was told by Union Textiles Minister Dayanidhi Maran today during his address to 15th Convocation of the NIFT. Though he did not revealed the name of the institution but said that the offer had come during his interaction with a leading College of the Switzerland during his recent Europe visit.  </p>
<p>The Minister has also emphasised the need to open  National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) specialized centres throughout the country to cater to the specific needs of traditional and emerging textiles clusters. “We should take step to bridge the gap and open NIFT specialized centres to cater to  the specific needs of traditional and emerging textiles clusters,” said Maran. He said that there is a sustained demand for NIFT intervention different cities like Dodbhallapur, Anantpur, Kohlapur, Surat, Jaipur, Ludhiana, Bhagalpur and Tirupur. He also called upon the NIFT designers to be equally concerned about the handloom weavers, khadi weavers and handicrafts artisans and ensure that the design interventions help them too.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and National Institute of Jewellery Design Technology (NIJDT) have come together to co-brand their courses. This will help to augment branding of their courses as well as utility and employability of the courses. An MOU will be signed between NIJDT and NIFT on Monday the 9th November in New Delhi for the purpose in presence of Delhi’s Industry Minister Haroon Yusuf.<br />
According to government sources the idea is to not just co-brand both the institutes but also start programmes like student exchange, organising seminars, teacher exchange for betterment of the courses as well as their students. “NIFT has expertise in fashion technology while NIJDT has expertise in jewellery desinging. Both the institutes will be benefitted with the proposed MOU”, a senior official of the Industry department told <strong>fachcha.com</strong>.<br />
NIJDT has been established by Delhi Government and promoted by Delhi State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) The institute currently run several diploma and certificate courses including Gemology, Jewellery Design, CAD, Dimond identification and other to cater the demand of gemstone, dimond and jewellery industry. NIFT is an established name in the fashion industry and run several graduate and post-graduate courses like fashion designing, apparel designing, leather design, accessory designing, textile designing and several others. </p>
