Meanwhile, trails for ECA and sports categories have already started in many colleges for admissions.
Delhi University has released its third cut-off. Though the most of the colleges have put “closed” board on their most of the courses including popular courses but colleges like Lady Shri Ram, Hansraj, Sri Venkateshwara, Hindu colleges have still in some of the popular courses.

But the most surprising presence is SRCC in the third cut-off. SRCC, which completely closed admissions for both of its courses i.e. B.Com (H) and BA (Eco.) for general category has opened the door for Economics (H) in the third cut-off. Though the cut-off is quite high (95-98%). The college has still seats for reserved categories too in both of the courses.

LSR has still seats in Psychology with 95.5% marks. Remember it raised eyebrows of many as the first cut-off of Psychology reached to 100%. Similarly, it has seats in Sociology, Math, Statistics, BA (Programme) and some other subjects.

Hansraj College, Sri Venkateshwara, Zakir Hussian are among those where seats in B.Com, Economics and some other popular courses are still available. Some colleges have put waiting list against possible withdrawal.

Amid the complaints of irregularities and touts pressure during the admission process in DU, the city police has claimed to unearth an organised admission racket, involved in admission in prestigious colleges of DU on the basis of forged certificates . According to the police the racket has done several admissions in some of the prestigious colleges in Delhi University on the basis of forged certificates.

Delhi Police has also nabbed three youths in this regard from Delhi University campus. However, college authorities have said that they have no idea in this regard. “There is set procedure to verify certificates of the candidates. If anybody found guilty at any stage, even during the third year of admission, his admission is cancelled without any exception. Moreover, a criminal case is registered against him”, says a Bhim Singh, Principal, KMC.

Meanwhile the city police has claimed that the several high-scorer students were in touch of the racket for admission in the prestigious colleges in Delhi University.

As ‘mission admission’ is on peak at Delhi University the complaints about irregularities, touts, violation of rules started buzzing around the campus and colleges. These include denial of admission despite having marks, misguiding about admission process and available combination of courses, touts pressure and several others.

But Delhi University administration has clearly said to bring these complaints on record rather than just talking about these. “If anybody has complaints related to admission they should approach to the authority and lodge a complaint in this regard”, says Gupreet Tuteja, Deputy Dean, Students’ Welfare.

According to him there are grievance committees in all the colleges to look into the matter. If anybody has genuine complaints he/she should directly approach to the committee in this regard. If the issue is related to the university or the concerned person is unsatisfied with the grievance redress mechanism of the college he can approach to office of Dean, Students’ Welfare (DSW). He should file a written complaint in this regard. So, that complaints could be addressed properly, he adds.

By Ravi B.
Evening Colleges of Delhi University too have disappointed admission seekers this time as these colleges have not given any respite from the high cut off in the popular courses like B.Com or Economics. The cut-off of B.Com (Hons.) is still very high and admission seekers are helplessly either waiting for another list or looking their chance in other subject or combination.

There are nine evening colleges in Delhi University and all these colleges mainly concentrate on Arts, Humanities and Commerce except PGDAV College. PGDAV College teaches Mathematics (Hons.) too. But the high cut-off has kept away needy students from the college as most of the students taking admission just to secure a seat in DU. They will move to morning colleges if they get better option in the coming lists, says a member of the admission committee of Moti Lal (Evening) College. “Traditionally, evening colleges were not created for very serious students but for working people of Delhi. The timing and environments too suits for them. But later on serious students used to come. However, bright students normally move to morning college if they get chance, he says.

Dyal Singh (Eve.) and Shaheed Bhagat Singh College have already closed admission for general category in B.Com (Hons.). The cut off of B.Com (Hons.) is 82-92% in Moti Lal Nehru (Eve.), 83-91.75% in Zakir Husain (Eve.), 83-88% in PGDAV (Eve.), 81-86% in RLA (Eve.), 83% in Satyawati (Eve.), 85% in Shyam Lal (Eve.) and 82-87.5% in Sri Aurobindo (Eve.) College. Even simple B.Com too varies between 75% to 85% in these colleges.

Situation of Economics (Hons.) too is not much different. In fact, students can get better option in Mathematics (Hons.) at PGDAV (Eve.) College as it is available at 70% in the second cut-off. English too is not very easy but Hindi and Sanskrit are available below 60% too in these colleges.
