Deepak Pental, Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University has given clear instructions to the principals of the colleges that merit will be only criteria to give admission in the undergraduate course. There are about 50000 seats in the undergraduate courses in different colleges of the university and over 1.20 lakh applications have been received by the university in this regard.

Giving reference of Right to Information (RTI) Prof. Pental told all the Principals that if anybody asks information regarding admission irregularities the university could not protect them by hiding information in this regard. There have been cases of irregularities in the admission in the past but after implementation of RTI it has been difficult to hide those irregularities by the university administration. Pental’s instruction came in a meeting recently. His instruction has come at a time when admission process is already on. Cut-off list for admission will come out in a next few days.

The rat race for admission in Delhi University is finally going to take off from Monday 1st, June amid the pressure of large number of high achievers in 12th examination both in CBSE and ICSE. The application process for admission in the undergraduate courses will continue from 1st June to15th June. Though colleges like St. Stephen’s and Jesus & Mary colleges have already started their process of admission. But other colleges of Delhi University will take admission in the under graduate courses through centralized admission system.

  16 admission centres have been made for the applicants to get and submit application forms. These include Arts faculty, Dean of student’s welfare (DSW), Kirorimal College, Deshbandhu College, ARSD college, Gargi college, PGDAV College, Shyam Lal College, Vivekanand College, South Campus, Jakir Husain College, Bharti College, Rajdhani College and Shrdhanand College.

 

The first cut-off list for admission will be displayed on 25th June while second cut-off  list will be displayed on 30th June. For more detail about admission process in DU please visit www.du.ac.in
