It is a matter of great joy for over 13000 candidates of IIT-JEE who have qualified country’s one of the toughest entrance tests. But a large number of IIT-JEE aspirants couldn’t make it. There number is over 4.3 lakh. Need not to say that most of them have been waiting for their result of other entrance tests like AIEEE, state level engineering tests and others.
fachcha.com has brought some of other courses which are comparatively easily available and have better future prospects. A large number of such courses are available in Delhi University, where mission admission is just going to take off.

PHYSICS:
It is a traditional pure science but its scope and career prospect are very wide. Even, engineering colleges can not run their courses without this conventional science. Postgraduates and research scholars of this stream of science are in demand for teaching, research, scientific studies and analysis and several other works. Bright postgraduates may get offer from defence services, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, DRDO and
other areas too. In other word career in this field is not lesser attractive than an engineer.

CHEMISTRY:Chemistry is another important area of pure science. But a bright scholar of this stream is always in demand specially those who specialize in area like organic chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry and some other areas. Apart from teaching and research there is a good demand for Chemistry students in labs, industry, health related institutions and many other areas.

MATHEMATICS:Known as queen of science, Mathematics has very wide spectrum, from basic book- keeping to super computers everybody needs mathematics. Teaching, research, computer, management etc. are the areas where an expert of Mathematics is in demand.

ELECTRONICS:
It is the area which comes under applied science. Limited seats are available for the course as it is not offered at every college. But career prospect is bright and a good degree in this field may open plethora of opportunities in the telecom and electronic industry. There is good scope for research and teaching too.

COMPUTER SCIENCE:Despite all pressure due to recession the craze for computer science is still on. Reason: India excels in the field and the country has highest number of patents in the field of computer science. There is no dearth of job for fresh graduates too in this area.

INSTRUMENTATION:
Instrumentation is a specific area of applied science and its skill is used in the instrumentation industry which is itself a huge industry in the country. Since there is very limited number of seats for the course (even in Delhi University) so its graduates are always in demand.

BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE:
Biomedical science is another area of applied science related to health and anti-pollution industry. Its graduates get attractive offers even at the campus level.

There are some other area like Polymer Science, Bio-Chemistry and some other area where entrance is comperatively easy than JEE and have better career prospects.

The controversy regarding implementation of semester system is not ready to die in Delhi University. After Mathematics teachers of other science subjects too have strongly opposed the implementation of semester system at the undergraduate level.

Over 300 teachers of various science subjects including Chemistry, Physics and Biological Sciences opposed the implementation of the semester system in a meeting at university.

They also said that the implementation is not feasible as the important components of science studies at undergraduate level, like Mathematics and English (departments), are still not ready to implement the system as imposed by the Vice Chancellor.

It is notable that the Mathematics and English department have already opposed the system saying that it is not feasible at the undergraduate level. But Vice Chancellor had passed the restructured course in 12 science subjects in a special Academic Council meeting despite strong protests by the members of AC.

Issue of introduction of semester system has once again got a jolt as strong opposition was seen in the Mathematics department’s meeting on the issue. The department has already rejected the proposal in this regard.

The meeting, which continued over three hours, was called off without reaching on any decision considering strong portest against the proposed semsester system. “The meeting was called off without taking any decision. The meeting was never been in order”, B K Dass, Head of the Department of Mathematics told fachcha.com.

The decision regarding introduction of semester system in Mathematics department is crucial as all courses of Physical Sciences are heavily associated with Mathematics. And, the Vice Chancellor has already announced to introduce semester system in science stream at undergraduate level without taking Mathematics department into confidence.

India’s recent contribution in the field of mathematics is “a fascinating new way to tell whether numbers are prime”, Noted mathematician Prof. Marcus du Sautoy, the Charles Simonyi Professor for the Public Understanding of Science, Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford has praised India’s contribution in the field of mathematics.
Prof. Marcus, who is visiting India to deliver his lecture on ‘The Music of the Primes’ at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore on 10th May said that several concepts like early idea of the calculus, concept of zero and others had been contribution of India to the world.
Terming Mathematics as ‘universal language’ he said that this language could bring cultures and countries together. During his visit, Prof Marcus du Sautoy will meet faculty and students at institutes across India and key Indian academic partners.
The Research Councils UK Office in India, UK Science and Innovation Network and the Indian Institute of Science are organising a high profile lecture series. This will be delivered in India throughout 2010. The series will showcase the cutting edge research and link it to the various challenges facing the world today.

Subject related stress is still a big issue among the students of 10th and 12th. CBSE Counseling unit has been receiving maximum number of calls related to the subject related matters especially for Mathematic, Science and Social Sciences. When fachcha.com contacted CBSE counseling unit its counselor though denied to be identified but said that they are receiving maximum number of calls for subject related issues and how to achieve maximum marks in their exams.
“XIIth students are worried about subjects like Mathematics and Science while students of Xth are concerned about social sciences too apart from Mathematics and Science subjects”, told a counselor of CBSE to fachcha.com identifying herself as a ‘representative of CBSE’. “Students are okay with language papers and hardly anyone needs any counseling for language papers”, she said.
Other queries are related to time management, roll numbers, learning process also coming from the students as well as their students, according to another counselor. CBSE is also receiving calls related to grading system and its conversion into numeric system and abolition of 10th board examinations.
CBSE had started first phase of annual counseling from 1st of February to overcome anxiety and examination related stress. 52 Principals, trained counselors, psychologists from CBSE affiliated schools are providing their services through counseling unit of CBSE. They belong to various locations like Delhi, Noida, Chandigarh, Meerut, Jaipur, Faridabad, Bhubaneswar, Vishakhapatnam, Jamnagar, Jabalpur, Bhopal, Bangalore, Guwahati, Pune, Bhilai and other locations.
