National Institute of Fashion Technology will be established in Bhubaneshwar too. Ministry of Textiles has received a proposal in this regard from Orissa government.
There are 13 NIFT centres in the country. These include NIFT in Delhi, Banguluru, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Kangra, Kannur, Kolkata, Bhopal, Chennai, Mumbai, Patna, Raibareli, Shillong. Many centres like Kangra, Patna, Kannur and Shillong have started functioning in the last one or two years. The proposed new centre in Orissa will be established with the help of state government. The state government has offered free land and fund for necessary infrastructure for the establishment of the institute.
