A notice in this regard has also been issued by the Indian Bank Association. The scheme of Common Examination will come into operation w.e.f. 1st June 2011. According the IBA the new scheme has the consent of the government and participatory banks

Candidates too have shown their happiness on the decision. Amulya Gaud, an aspirant of bank career says it is need of the hour. It should have implemented earlier.

Rakesh Taneja, a management consultant too says that it will reduce hassle and tension of a candidate to a great extent.

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University will soon open hostels in its new Dwarka campus. The hostels will prove a big relief for those students who come from far away or outside to study in the university.

“Construction of four hostels has already been completed in the campus. The finishing of these hostels are going on these days”, says a senior official of the university. According to him four hostels include two girls’ and two boys’ hostels accommodating 250 students each.

About 1000 students will be accommodated in the university hostel. The hostel will be available for the students from coming academic session, he adds.

The best thing is that these hostels will help to build up a complete academic ambience and environment in the Dwarka Campus, says Yogesh Kumar Singh, Examination Controller of the University. According to him this was not possible in case of Old Campus, situated at Kashmiri Gate due to lack of space.

The hostel will save time of the students from commuting they will use it in more constructive works, says B P Joshi, Registrar, I P University. The university has very good library and peaceful atmosphere which certainly will help students to excel in their field of study

But the online examination facility will be limited to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Noida, Allahabad, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Jaipur, Bhopal, Jalandher, Bhubneshwar, Ernakulam, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Nagpur, Dehradun and Trivandrum.

CBSE is expecting that over 10 lakh students will participate in the examination considering the previous records. In such a situation it does not want to take risk in this regard as the online examination system is expansive option initially.

CBSE has made several changes to revise textbooks of Communicative English for Class-X. The revised textbooks will soon be available to in the regional offices, market and bookstores.

According to CBSE the revision has been made on the basis of feedback, received from teachers and students. “Revised textbooks aim at integration of skills in all student books as well as introduction of revised test item types as per CCE scheme”, CBSE Chairman Vineet Joshi said in a letter to all heads of schools and institutions.

The Board has also instructed schools to provide at least two periods in a fortnight for students’ participation in Health and Wellness Clubs, Dramatic Clubs, Eco Clubs, Science Clubs and other related activities as these activities are important for holistic development of child.

Normally, these Clubs related activities are not mandatory in the nature and most of the schools do not bother about these activities. This is despite the fact that over 2000 such clubs are active in Delhi’s schools alone.

While the students have been ultimate victims in the ongoing war between the university administration and the teachers of Delhi University since the new academic session has begun on the name of implementation and opposition of semester system at the undergraduate level the ministry of Human Resources and Development (HRD) has planned to bring new head outside the university to end the episode. If everything will be according to the plan Syed Husnain, Vice-Chancellor, University of Hyderabad may be appointed as new VC of Delhi University, said a highly placed source of HRD.

The present Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University Deepak Pental has already indicated to leave the office by the end of this month (as the biggest issue of Cobalt-60 has already been settled and he has emerged as Mr. Clean in the report).

According to a senior official of the HRD though the name is yet to get nod from the Visitor of Delhi University (President of India) but the HRD is seriously considering the option to bring Vice Chancellor from other university. Meanwhile, the Prof. Dinesh Singh, Pro-VC of the university will be officiating Vice-Chancellor if the name is not finalized by the Visitor. In fact, he is the most senior official of the university. “There will be no problem even if the Vice-Chancellor leaves the office before the new appointment.”

The term of Deepak Pental as Vice-Chancellor had been completed in August. He has been on extension since then. It is notable that four names had been suggested by the search committee for the DU’s VC post. These include Pro-VC Dinesh Singh, LSR Principal Meenakshi Gopinath, JNU’s B S Chimni and Prof. Syed Husnain of University of Hyderabad.

After getting infrastructural boost from the Commonwealth Games the city government has planned to set up six new sports academies to promote sports related activities in the capital city Delhi. These include football, wrestling and athletics and others. The proposal has also been discussed in a cabinet meeting, though informally, held this week.

According to a senior minister of Delhi government after successful games and performance of the players in the Commonwealth Games the Sports and Education department has planned to use state-of-art infrastructure for the development of various disciplines. “Delhi has got three state-of-art stadiums including Thygraja stadium and Chhatrasaal stadium. While Chhatrasaal stadium has been in use for a long time for various activities including celebration of Republic Day and Independence Day; the Thyagraja stadium has been renovated as world class stadium for the games. The stadium will be used for various sports related activities including activities of proposed academies”, says the minister.

“The players have done extremely well. Their role in making the Games the best-ever is commendable,” the Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had said after the cabinet meeting.
“The people of Delhi have more expectations from their talented players. The newly developed sports infrastructure, a part of the city’s legacy now, will be utilised to prepare our athletes,” said the Chief Minister.
According to a senior sports official of Delhi government the Thyagraja stadium has already been occupied for the next two years for sports related activities of schools and other tournaments. However, he says that activities of academies too can be accommodated at the stadium if it is required so.
