Haryana to set up 173 rural stadiums

Haryana is setting up 173 rural stadiums in the state to promote sports in the state. This was announced by the Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in a press confernece in New Delhi today.

He also launched the second edition of Sports and Physical Aptitude Test (SPAT) and announced to increase its seats to 5,000 players . In the first edition of SPAT,1606 players had qualified. He said that the schools would be involved in the SPAT-2011 and about 20 lakh players are likely to participate in this ambitious programme. He also released the theme song of the “play4india”.

The Chief Minister also announced that awards of Rs.15 lakh, Rs10 lakh and Rs. 5 lakh would be given to those sports persons of the State who would win Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals in the forthcoming Commonwealth Games-2010.
