Delhi Health Minister Prof. Kiran Walia has today advised the students of all the school in the capital not to be frightened and panicky about the Swine Flu. She assured them that government is fully prepared to treat the disease and control the outbreak. Prof. Kiran Walia was speaking while interacting with the students at St. Thomas School at Mandir Marg today where she also conducted a visit in the school premises and inspected the sanitation conditions. She found that the school is well sanitized and has been disinfected. She told the students that the Swine Flu has not taken virulent form and there is not need to worry about the disease. It is well curable and controllable, she said.
Prof. Walia informed that 11 students of St. Thomas School were diagnosed with Swine Flu and out of which 6 students have been treated and they are all right while 5 students are taking treatment in Ram Manohar Lohia, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Loknayak Jai Prakash Hospitals. She said that there is no need to close the schools and only need to be careful and take precautions about the disease. She said that preventive measures have been sent to the school and Principals have been asked to tell the students about the do’s and don’ts to avoid the disease. Minister was satisfied with the sanitation situations of St. Thomas School.
Prof. Walia appealed the parents of the students who are suffering from Swine Flu not to go to schools to save other students from the disease. She said that if any children are diagnosed with Swine Flu he/she should immediately be taken to the hospitals earmarked for treating this disease. Precautions should strictly be followed to keep away from Swine Flu. She said that till date 119 positive cases of Swine Flu found out of which 94 patients have been cured and discharged from the hospitals.
