Delhi’s Government Schools have improved their performance in CBSE Class Xth result as compared to last year. Govt. School’s pass percentage has gone up from 83.68% to 89.44% (increase of 5.76%). In comparison the percentage of Private schools have marginally increased from 91.10 last year to 91.67 (increase of 0.57% only). The gap between Private and Government Schools of Delhi in the Class X CBSE 2009 results has narrowed to 2.23% in 2009 from 7.24% in 2008.Delhi government schools against 105538 last year. This year 85098 students from Private schools appeared in boards as compared to figure of 80952 of last year. Out of 1.47 lakh students who appeared in the Secondary Examination in 2009 from Government schools all over the country, more than 1.16 lakh students appeared from Delhi government schools only.Delhi also performed quite better than the Kedriya Vidyalays in Delhi. A student of RPVV, Sham Nath Marg, Vikas scored 96.8% mark to became topper among boys and all over. Ms. Ravneet Kaur from RPVV Gandhi Nagar and Ms. Aini Hasnain, RPVV, Surajmal Vihar scored 95% marks this year.

The Education Minister Arvinder Singh said that the City Government is committed to impart quality education to students and inculcate state of the art technology in teaching. The Minister added that number of merit certificate winners in government schools has gone up from 9953 in 2008 to 10648 in 2009.
