Strong protest has been lodged by the members of Academic Council against the emergency imposition of the semester system in Delhi University. All the elected representatives of Academic Council have unanimously opposed the Vice-Chancellor’s agenda to introduce semester system in the Science stream. The emergency meeting of the Academic Council is on and debate and discussion are still on the proposed introduction of the new system.

On the other hand teachers of Delhi University are sitting on dharna outside the Vice Chancellor’s office under DUTA to protest against the VC’s autocratic and arbitrary way of implementing semester system at undergraduate level and to demand discussion and review of undemocratic imposition of the same
According to DUTA President Aditya Narayan Mishra the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Deepak Pental is trying to impose semester system undemocratically without holding discussion and debate in the important bodies of Delhi University such as Committee of Courses, Academic Council, Executive Council, Staff Councils of Colleges and Departmental Council.
