Democracy? You have to implement what I have decided: DU V-C to teachers

What are the democratic rights? You (teachers) have to implement what I have decided (to implement semester system). This what exactly transpired between Delhi University Vice Chancellor Deepak Pental and members of Academic Council in five-hour long meeting. The meeting remained inconclusive as the Vice Chancellor finally denied to pay any attention on the all suggestions presented by the AC members. Even, he did not ready to get any kind of the consultation or deferment on the issue.

“The Vice Chancellor had come with a closed mind. He unilaterally decides the things and wants to implement it without proper infrastructure, manpower and even course or text book. This is despite the fact that he (VC) himself accepts that he will not be there in the university to face the real and practical problems related to the implementation of the semester system in the colleges as his term is going to over soon”, Abha Dev Habib, a member of Academic Council told fachcha.com.

“We decided to end our agitation under the impression that the Vice Chancellor would talk and take decision with open mind but he was adamant in his approach and used even derogatory terms for teacher activists and AC members”, she said.

Meanwhile, DUTA has said that it will soon call a meeting in this regard and take a decision for further course of action.
