Delhi plans moving school for children of construction labourers

Delhi Government has decided to come out with a comprehensive plan to provide facilities such as health, education etc. to family members of construction labour engaged in construction activity in the Capital city.  It has also been decided to involve departments of Health & Education in the process.  These two departments would provide medical care and education facilities respectively for which the Department of Labour would be releasing amount out of Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Fund being administered by the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.  The decision was taken in a review meeting of Labour Department chaired by Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Sheila Dikshit.   The meeting was also attended by Labour Minister Shri Mangat Ram Singhal, Labour Secretary and other senior officers of the Department.

 

It was reported that an amount of Rs.100 per month as scholarship is being paid to the wards of construction labour, studying in middle classes and Rs.250 per month is being paid to the wards studying upto XII standard.  This scholarship is in addition to other scholarships being availed by the wards of construction labour.  The Chief Minister has asked Health Department to make available mobile dispensaries and related medical care and Education Department to depute Chalta Phirta Schools for family members of construction labour.  It was decided to provide these facilities in next two months when schools re-open.  Smt. Dikshit has further directed top officers of the Departments of Health, Education and Labour to come prepared with facts and figures in a meeting likely to be convened in next few days where an action plan will be finalised.
