Prestigious Delhi College of Art will be developed as an institute of international repute. The students of the college have already been engaged in the beautification of the city and some of the students of the college have been working for Commonwealth Games too.
Impressed by College’s performance and work Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said that Delhi government is committed to develop the institute as a centre of international repute. She was delivering her convocation address in Convocation Function of Delhi College of Art wherein around 130 passed out students were awarded degree. Terming Delhi College of Art as one of the best art colleges of the country she exhorted passing out students to enrich aesthetic value in Delhi. She congratulated entire college family on completion of their new building which has an appropriate ambience for learning and understanding art. New building and an auditorium was designed by eminent architect Satish Gujral. The intake of college in BFA has been increased to 211 and MFA 55 from this academic year.
The College was established in 1942. It is fully funded by Government of Delhi and is affiliated to University of Delhi. The College offers courses both at graduate and post-graduate levels. Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) is an undergraduate course with four years duration in disciplines like painting, sculpture and applied art. Post Graduate course, Master of Fine Arts (MFA) which is two year in duration is also in the same disciplines.
