Big relief to 44 deemed universities

Filed Under (Institutions, Law) by on 06-05-2010 and tagged ,

Providing a big relief to 44 deemed universities, who have been under threat of de-recognition by the Ministry of HRD, the Supreme Court has denied to restrain new admissions for the coming session. The apex court has also favoured to examine the validity of decision of the Ministry to de-recognise 44 universities as the University Grant Commission (UGC) itself is the competent authority to take decision in this regard.

The Court has also questioned the validity of P K Tondon Committee, whose report became basis of de-recognition plea.
