London booking: Hike for Hockey coach

As Indian Hockey team confirmed its seat for London Olympic tournaments by defeating France by 8-1 on Sunday the government has raised the salary of India Men’s Hockey coach Mr. Michael Jack Nobbs from 10000/- Australian Dollars per month to 11000/- Australian Dollars per month with immediate effect. Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs has taken decision in recognition of notable achievement of male Hockey players.

India defeated France on Sunday with the help of five goal of Sandeep Singh in Olympic qualifying tournament at Major Dhyanchand National Stadium. Prizes, including several cash awards, have already been announced for the players of Indian Hockey team for the achievement.

Sahara to promote other games, withdraws from Cricket

The most reliable sponsor for Cricket team in India, Sahara, has left cricket in doledrum as it has announced to end relationship with cricket citing differences on various issues with regulating body of Indian Cricket, BCCI. The announcement has been made just before the start of auction of cricket players in Bangalore.

Sahara had been sponsoring Indian Cricket team and tournaments for over 11 years. According to Sahara Chief Subrata Roy it will now support other games of the country by setting up a Sahara Welfare Foundation for them. The Foundation will be run by the eminent people of the respective fields and Rs. 500 crore has immediately been allocated for the purpose. The fund will support cricket too but in a different way.

Largest shooting team from India for London Olympics

Ace shooters Gagan Narang and Abhinav Bindra will participate in London Olympics. They will be among 11-member Indian shooting team. It includes three women shooters Annuraj Singh, Rahi Sarnobat and Shagun Choudhary. Other members include Hari Om Singh, Sanjeev Rajput, Ranjan Sodhi, Vijay Kumar, Abhinav Bindra, Manavjit Singh Sandhu and Imran Hasan Khan.

This the biggest shooting team for Olympics in the last three decades. Nine shooters form India participated in Beijing Olympics, 2008.

According to the Ministry of Sports 14.40 crore has been spent on shooters training and their exposure for London Olympics.

Leander brings cheer

Ace Tennis Player Leander Paes has given moments of cheer for Indians amid the disappointing performance by Indian Cricket team. Paes has become first Indian to win career Grand Slam by winning all the four grand slams in doubles. He has won his first ever Man’s Doubles in Australian Open Tournament. The 38-year old Paes has won the match against Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan by 7-6 (7/1) and 6-2 with the help of Radek Stepanek.

7000 budding players to participate in 57th National School Games

Over 7000 students and budding players from various parts of the country today gathered at Chhatrasal Stadium to participate in 57th National School Games. The games has been inaugurated by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. According to Delhi’s Sports Minister Arvinder Singh 17 different games will be organized on the occasion.
These sports include Baseball, Netball, Wrestling, Yoga, Kho-kho including C.K. Naidu U-14 Cricket Tournament. The games will continue till 3rd January 2012.

Sachin completes 15,000-run

A new history has created today at Kotla Stadium in New Delhi when the Sachin Tendulkar becomes the first cricketer to cross 15,000-run mark in Test cricket. Batting against W.Indies, in the second innings of 182nd match Sachin Tendulkar wrote the new history of cricket.

Rahul Dravid, his partner in the match, and whole spectators congratulated him on the occasion.
