Recent controversy over cartoon in NCERT book has re-ignited the debate of the freedom of speech in media, society and moreover in the Parliament. Fachcha.com has talked in detail with Ravi Shankar Etteth, Executive Editor, The Sunday Standard. The first Tagore Memorial Award will be presented to the noted sitar mastreo Pt. Ravishankar. A cash prize of rupees one crore will be presented apart from citation and momento. This has been announced today by the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee during his address at closing ceremony of 150th birth anniversary celebrations at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. According to him the award will be presented by the President of India in a special function.
He also announced to give rupees 150 crore for Vishwa Bharti University, founded by Rabindra Nath Tagore, for rennovation and development works.
