R R Rausaria has become new Director of Distance Education Council (DEC).

The Distance Education Council is an Apex Body for promotion, coordination and maintenance of Standards in Open & Distance Learning System in the Country. In addition to the Indira Gandhi National Open University, there are 13 State Open Universities (SOUs) in the country and over 200 Directorates of Distance Education attached to conventional Universities and Private/Autonomous Institutes, which provide education through the distance mode.
