President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today asked the head of various states to end the menace of ragging in the educational institutions. Inaugurating 43rd conference of Governors the President said that though it is primarily the responsibility of the educational institutions to curb ragging in their respective institutions but as the Chancellors of the universities in their respective states Governors can play important role to wipe out the menace through their persuasive influence. University Grant Commission (UGC) has withdrawn the status of National School of Drama (NSD) as an institution deemed to be university. The decision will be effective with immediate effect.
