President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today conferred Nehru Award for International Understanding for year 2009 to German Chancellor Angela Merkel at Rashtrapati Bhawan. The prize is given in memory of India’s first Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. ViCe President of India, Hamid Ali, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, ICCR President Dr. Karan Singh and cabinet ministers and leaders were also present on the occassion.
