Indian Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has reached to at the level of sublime cricket that nobody could even has touched that level in the history of world cricket of one-day international. With double century in just 147 balls at Captain Roop Singh Stadium Sachin has shown that he is here to stay and his experiment with cricket is not over. It was 46th ODI century for the Master blaster. He made it against S. Africa with the help of 25 fours and three sixes.
After introducing YUVA trains for younger generation the Rail Minister Mamta Banerjee today announced to introduce Matribhoomi & Karmbhoomi trains for women and common people respectively. Presenting Rail Budget for the year 2010-11 the Rail Minister also made announcement about introduction of Indian Railway to neighbouring countries like Bangladesh and Nepal.
The Minister has also given additional responsibility to IIT, Kharagpur by making an announcement regarding setting up of a research centre for Railway. Till now it has been performing at Jamalpur (Bihar). Jamalpur has been teaching centre for Special Class Railway Apprentices (SCRA), exclusively selected for Railway services by UPSC. A 125 year old rail factory is also situated at Jamalpur.
This year the 52 new long distance trains have been introduced and the minister has also announced to set up sports academies at 5 locations in the country. Apart from these a special train is also being introduced on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Tagore.
The three day management fest and international business summit INBUSH has started today at Amity University. Some of the students of IGNOU will get concession for rail travel. According to Rajasekahran Pillai, V-C, IGNOU has said that the students enrolled in face-to-face programme would now avail concession for rail travel. IGNOU is currently running 21 face-to-face programme. The facility will not be available for lakhs of students who have been enrolled in various courses in distance mode or correspondence courses.
It is notable that IGNOU is currently running hundreds of courses in distance mode.
The Lt.-Governor Delhi, Tejendra Khanna today inaugurated a 3 months basic orientation programme at University School of Law & Legal studies of Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University at its Dwarka Campus. About 400 SI of Delhi Police are participating in the programme.
In his address the Lt. Governor told policemen to make sure the highest standards of professionalism in their service. He said one must be totally dedicated to integrity and honesty and must have high domain competence. University’s Vice-chancellor Dilip Bandopadhyay was also present on the occassion.
Third International Conference on Digital Libraries (ICDL 2010) inaugurated by Indian HRD Minister Kapil Sibal today in New Delhi. The conference is co-hosted by IGNOU and TERI. Delegates from various countries including USA are participating in the conference.
ICDL 2010 is being organized from 23rd to 26th February, 2010.The theme of the conference is ‘Digital Libraries: Shaping the Information Paradigm’ and the focus is on the strengths and potential of digital libraries and their role in education, cultural, social and economic development.
The International Conference will facilitate the availability of the rich repositories and connective links to the identified topics from the world’s libraries for students, researchers, scholars, teachers, trainers, writers, artists and other members of the Knowledge society. All libraries of the world will be networked for all domains of knowledge for sharing , research and development so that students will not have to visit libraries, but would be able to access any topic online.
Apart from the other aspects, this conference has special focus on web-based methodologies. IGNOU’s participation in the event would help it strengthen its arena of ICT, Web-based methodologies and digitization for promoting seamless access to all
It was seminar of research scholars though on “Changing dynamics of Indo-Korea Relations: Step Forward” at famous India International Centre but the speakers discussed about Shekhar Gupta, Editor-in-Chief, Indian Express. Citing an example about the literacy and education in South Korea one of the speaker and former Foreign Secretary of India Shashank said that when Shekhar Gupta, reached to S. Korea to participate in a conference of editors he found that everybody had Ph.D. qualification. Shekhar, a bachelor degree holder, surprised with this and later on discuss it with Shashank too.
According to Shashank, Korea is ahead of the countries like US, China, India, UK in terms of higher education. He said that the earlier people used to come here study Buddhism but the scene has changed now. People, from Korea, now come here for trade & commerce and other activities.
Inaugurating the two-day seminar, Dr. R B Singh of Delhi University told scholars to do research and make research reports in a way that it could be useful for policy makers. He also suggested to develop Indian coastal line on the line of Korea. According to him there are a lot of things can be shared between the two countries.
Do Young Kim, Korean Visiting Professor, Delhi University, told fachcha.com that the relationship between S. Korea and India has become much better in post-recession era than the pre-recession era.
